Steven Lucas, is a professional Counselling Psychotherapist with over a decade’s experience working for the NHS, the voluntary sector and in private practice. Steven has worked in a number of different settings including hospitals, prisons, health centres and private industry. He is a warm, caring and empathic person who is passionate about the therapeutic relationship, a cornerstone of the counselling process.
Between 2006 and 2012 Steven volunteered for Samaritans. His role as Deputy Director for volunteer care gave him a unique insight into the support needed both for clients and the people who care for them.
Steven conducts both short and long term therapy and favours integrative therapy, which includes proven models of counselling such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic and Person Centred.
As well as running clinics at four private practices in Wellingborough, Northampton, Bedford and Milton Keynes, Steven works as a senior lecturer in counselling psychotherapy for Chrysalis at the University of Northampton Park Campus site. His role is to prepare other counsellors for private practice.
Steven holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Diplomas in Counselling, Abnormal Psychology, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. He is a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and an accredited member of the National Counselling Society (NCS). He works to the highest professional standards and ethics.
